This workshop is a Private Teleconference via Google Hangout. It is completed in (2) 80 minute sessions according to your schedule, and is focused on your level of Spanish, client population and theoretical orientation.
The Introducción del Terapeuta con un Cliente Nuevo workshop is suitable for Mental Health Professionals who are Intermediate to Advanced Spanish speakers wanting to develop and refine their ability to conduct an introductory session with a new client in Spanish.
You will learn information to conduct psychotherapy sessions and implement a basic treatment plan in Spanish. This workshop provides the foundation for other modules of the program such as: crisis assessment and safety plan, substance use assessment, parenting interventions, multi-disciplinary assessment, culturally congruent interventions.

Prerequisite: We recommend a minimum of three years of high school Spanish or equivalent knowledge of Spanish.

- Presentarse - learn how to introduce yourself as a therapist or intern, give the necessary legal and ethical disclosures, explain a little about yourself and establish the frame of therapy.
- Desahogarse - the purpose of this person centered and culturally congruent intervention is to develop rapport, gather a history and relieve client stress. Prepare for common client responses. Practice therapist statements.
- Concluir - set the next appointment, wrap up the session. We work on various therapist phrases and client therapist interactions for wrapping up the session, setting the next appointment, dealing with basic paperwork, answering common questions.
