Welcome to Level A Assessment and Psycho-Social Evaluation
In this series of modules, Mental Health Professionals will practice delivering essential elements of Assessment and Psycho-Social Evaluation in Spanish. When completing levels A and B, therapists will practice topics such as: applied mental health assessment techniques using the 4P's model; therapist questions; psycho-educational statements; reflecting statements; preparation for common client responses; therapist-client dialogue and role play.
This module is suitable for Mental Health Professionals, Interns and Graduate Students with Intermediate to Advanced Spanish.

Module 1: PARENT INTERVIEW
In this section you will start working with the Presenting Problem using the vignette of a consultation with the parent of a teenage client as part of a Psycho-Social Assessment. You will listen to the parent talk about the problems he is experiencing with his teenage son. You will learn key therapist phrases to use in performing an initial assessment/consultation.
Module 2 - PRESENTING PROBLEM:
Work with your client around the Presenting Problem. Learn useful vocabulary, questions, phrases and reflecting statements while using the Usted form correctly and displaying appropriate cultural knowledge and vocabulary. This module covers identifying Presenting Problems.
VIDEO 3 - PREDISPOSING FACTORS:
Eavesdrop on an Assessment session between psychologist Dr. Mena and the mother of teenage client Susana. This module helps Dr. Mena identify Predisposing Factors of the Presenting Problem. Within this section flow the Cultural Constructs Familismo y Confianza. Understand and practice operationalizing Familismo in session. Practice using the plural Ustedes form, since in this module Dr. Mena is talking to more than one person. Practice questions, statements and vocabulary to interview your client about Predisposing Factors specifically related to the family and neighborhood.
